A chemist may also have a Masters in teaching these days. Teaching can be a very lucrative career path. Some people are starting school intending to be chemistry teachers. Other people are continuing their education or even going back to school for this degree.

Some people enter college knowing exactly what they want to do. Some people, for instance, really want to be chemistry teachers. They know that when they start their college career that they need to take classes in chemistry and also classes in teaching. When a person double majors like that, they often run out of room in their class schedule for anything else. It can be difficult to manage a class schedule for even one major sometimes. Trying to balance two majors can be almost impossible. A person that wants to be a chemistry teacher will need to balance their schedule carefully. They need to make time for both their chemistry labs and their teaching hours for their Masters in teaching.

Many people get their Masters in teaching as a way of staying in school longer. Many people have no desire to leave school. They know just how hard it can be to have a job and a house to upkeep. Other people may choose to continue their education by broadening their portfolios. A Masters in teaching can be just the way to prove to a future employer that you are a good leader and will help other employees in their need. It can also be a good back up skill for when the job market is especially bad. Staying in school longer is also a great idea for when the economy is bad. Not only are you avoiding the possibility of being jobless, you are making your resume stronger at the same time.

When the economy is bad enough to keep people in school longer, it is also bad enough to send more people back to school. It is for much the same reason. People want to increase their chances of being hired and strengthen their resumes. A Masters in teaching is a great degree for this. It is a great way to augment any other degree that a person may already have. A pharmacist that gets laid off can get a Masters in teaching and then pursue a new career path. A person who has a strong background in chemistry would make an excellent chemistry teacher. Not only that, he or she may also have a strong background in biology, after dealing with people’s medical conditions. He or she may also have a strong background with computers. Any of these skills are very valuable to students.
